Energy storage system size estimation for hybrid dual fuel powered dredging vessels

7-8 November 2019. Ahoy, Rotterdam, the Netherlands

Mestemaker BTW, van den Heuvel HN and Gonçalves Castro MB - Royal IHC, the Netherlands

Summary: Dual fuel engines operating on natural gas have a smaller transient load acceptance than diesel engines and therefore need an energy storage system, to prevent it from switching to diesel. This paper will discuss a statistical method for estimating the size of such systems.
