Summary: Dual fuel engines operating on natural gas have a smaller transient load acceptance than diesel engines and therefore need an energy storage system, to prevent it from switching to diesel. This paper will discuss a statistical method for estimating the size of such systems.
Dual fuel engine load change capability plot
- Engine capability estimation for dealing with the transient loading conditions of dredging
- Fast static analysis method to estimate the size of an energy storage system
- Verification of static results with dynamic simulations
- Transient load response of a natural gas fuelled dual fuel engine
